We are looking for a Gate Service Technician to join our growing team. This is a hands-on position working with commercial and residential vehicle gates and pedestrian entry systems. You will install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain automatic gates, gate operators, access-control equipment, and related electrical and mechanical systems. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in gates, fencing, overhead doors, automatic doors, electrical work, welding, HVAC, construction, equipment repair, or other mechanical trades who wants to build a long-term career in a specialized and growing industry.
What You’ll Do
As a Gate Service Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, service, troubleshooting, and repair of:
• Sliding vehicle gates
• Swinging vehicle gates
• Pedestrian/personnel entry gates
• Automatic gate operators and controls
• Access-control systems
• Keypads, card readers, sensors, loops, safety devices, and related equipment
• Gate hardware, hinges, rollers, wheels, tracks, and other mechanical components
Your responsibilities will include:
• Installing and servicing automatic gate systems
• Setting gate and equipment posts and properly securing them in concrete
• Installing electrical gate operators and controls
• Running and terminating low-voltage and electrical wiring
• Troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and operator problems
• Diagnosing gate alignment, hardware, motor, sensor, and control issues
• Welding and fabricating as needed
• Installing conduit, wire, sensors, safety equipment, and accessories
• Performing preventative maintenance and repairs
• Reading basic electrical diagrams, installation instructions, and equipment manuals
• Using hand tools, power tools, drills, saws, welders, meters, and other trade equipment
• Working safely around electrical equipment, moving machinery, vehicles, and construction sites
• Communicating professionally with customers and providing excellent service
• Completing service documentation and communicating job status to the office
• Maintaining company vehicles, tools, and equipment
This Is a Physical, Hands-On Job
This position is physically demanding and requires someone who enjoys working outdoors and performing skilled manual labor.
You should be comfortable:
• Lifting and carrying heavy materials and equipment
• Digging and setting posts
• Pouring and working with concrete
• Bending, kneeling, climbing, reaching, and working in awkward positions
• Working outdoors in hot, cold, wet, and changing weather conditions
• Using power tools and welding equipment
• Working from ladders and lifts when required
• Spending much of the workday on your feet
• Working around large gates, vehicles, machinery, and construction equipment
If you prefer a desk job, this probably isn’t the position for you. If you like working with your hands, solving problems, and learning a skilled trade, you may be an excellent fit.

Experience in one or more of the following is highly desirable:
• Automatic gate installation or service
• Fencing or gate construction
• Electrical or low-voltage systems
• Access control
• Welding and fabrication
• Overhead doors
• Automatic doors
• Garage doors
• Industrial equipment repair
• HVAC
• Security systems
• Construction
• Mechanical equipment service
• Motor controls or electrical troubleshooting
We are willing to train the right mechanically inclined candidate. Experience with every aspect of gate systems is not required for someone who demonstrates the right attitude, work ethic, mechanical ability, and willingness to learn.
Qualifications
• Valid driver’s license and dependable driving record
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
• Ability to safely operate hand and power tools
• Ability to lift, carry, and work with heavy equipment and materials
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers and coworkers
• Welding experience is a plus
• Electrical/low-voltage experience is a plus
• Gate, fencing, overhead door, automatic door, or access-control experience is a plus
