The role
We are seeking a Catholic Religious Education Coordinator to support the Catholic community at Columbus Air Force Base.
This is a rewarding opportunity to take an active role in shaping and coordinating Catholic religious education, sacramental preparation, seasonal programs, and community events. You will work closely with the Catholic Chaplain or Auxiliary Priest, helping ensure programs are organized, welcoming, and delivered effectively.
The contract runs from September 28, 2026 through September 27, 2027.
Key Responsibilities
As the Catholic Religious Education Coordinator, you will:
- Coordinate sacramental preparation including First Communion, Reconciliation, and Confirmation
- Support children’s liturgies and Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
- Develop the annual RE curriculum and program schedule
- Recruit, interview, train, and support teachers, aides, substitutes, and volunteers
- Co-lead Vacation Bible School, including planning, registration, advertising, and volunteer coordination
- Promote Catholic RE programs through social media
- Coordinate classrooms, facilities, supplies, and program resources
- Support budgeting and monitor program funds
- Maintain student, parent, teacher, and volunteer records
- Track attendance, volunteer hours, and other program statistics

The person
To succeed as our Catholic Religious Education Coordinator, you must:
- Be active in and have an in-depth knowledge of the Catholic faith
- Have experience with sacramental preparation, children’s liturgies, and RCIA
- Have at least one year of experience coordinating Catholic RE events or seasonal religious programs
- Understand basic Catholic doctrine and liturgical law
- Have basic budgeting and money-management skills
- Be able to successfully complete the required background investigation for working with children
- Complete the required Catechist Certification Program within six months of contract award
