The role
Maxwell AFB is seeking a Protestant Religious Education Coordinator to support its Protestant Worship Community and help deliver a welcoming, well-organized religious education program.
This is a varied role where you will coordinate programs for ages one through adult, work closely with chaplains and volunteers, and help turn the annual ministry plan into meaningful activities for the community.
The Protestant Religious Education Coordinator will work at least 20 hours per week, including Sundays from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Additional hours may be needed around Easter, Christmas, Vacation Bible School, and special events.
Key Responsibilities
You will:
- Coordinate Sunday School, Bible studies, formation classes, Vacation Bible School, and special programs.
- Recruit, train, schedule, and support religious education volunteers.
- Teach approved curriculum when suitable volunteer coverage is unavailable.
- Plan annual activities, calendars, resources, and religious education events.
- Coordinate facilities, equipment, materials, registrations, and event promotion.
- Maintain curriculum records and prepare lesson plans in advance.
- Work closely with chaplains, chapel staff, military personnel, families, and community volunteers.
- Support holiday programs and volunteer appreciation events.

The person
The successful Protestant Religious Education Coordinator will:
- Communicate fluently in English.
- Be confident organizing people, programs, and events.
- Work effectively with volunteers and military and civilian personnel.
- Be comfortable using Microsoft Office and relevant digital platforms.
- Be flexible, reliable, and able to work independently.
- Successfully complete the required installation and childcare background checks.
