Structural Welder – MIG & Flux
Apache Workforce is hiring experienced Structural Welders for industrial fabrication work in Houston, TX.
Pay: $25.00–$30.00 per hour, based on experience
Shift: Day and Night Shifts Available
Night Shift Differential: Additional 10%
Welding Test: 3G and 4G. MIG root pass, FLUX fill and cap
Job Summary:
The Structural Welder will weld and assemble structural steel components used in industrial equipment and fabricated assemblies. The ideal candidate has hands-on structural welding experience, can read fabrication drawings, and is comfortable working in a production fabrication environment.
Responsibilities:
- Weld structural steel components using MIG and flux-cored welding processes.
- Set up and adjust welding machines according to material and job requirements.
- Read and follow blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings.
- Prepare materials for welding, including cleaning, grinding, and fitting.
- Select the appropriate wire, filler material, and welding settings.
- Inspect completed welds for proper appearance and quality.
- Use hand and power tools for grinding, cutting, and material preparation.
- Follow production and quality requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow all company safety procedures and required PPE guidelines.
- Perform other related fabrication duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of structural welding or heavy fabrication experience.
- Hands-on experience with MIG and/or flux-cored welding.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and weld symbols.
- Knowledge of structural steel fabrication and welding practices.
- Ability to set up and adjust welding equipment.
- Ability to perform quality visual inspections of completed welds.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Must be able to successfully complete a welding test before placement.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, bend, reach, and work for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working around heat, welding fumes, noise, and industrial equipment.
- Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled shop environment.
- Must wear required PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toe boots.
- Ability to work extended shifts and overtime when required.
