Underground Plumbing Manager
About the Role: The Underground Plumbing Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations, optimizing technician performance, managing resources and materials, and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction. You’ll partner with leadership to drive results, improve processes, and build a high-performing team that delivers top-quality underground plumbing services to our residential customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day operations of the underground plumbing and sewer & drain teams.
- Ensure technicians are scheduled appropriately based on skill and job requirements.
- Oversee training, coaching, and development of field staff to drive performance in sales, service, and safety.
- Collaborate with service supervisors to evaluate technician capabilities and align them with project needs.
- Monitor and manage labor and material costs to stay within budget and improve operational efficiency.
- Track KPIs and lead weekly performance reviews with the team; coach for continuous improvement.
- Maintain relationships with key partners including realtors, municipal staff, inspectors, and subcontractors.
- Order and manage materials, ensure timely deliveries, and confirm inventory readiness before dispatching jobs.
- Partner with dispatch, call center, and sales teams to maximize labor capacity and job efficiency.
- Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and quality service delivery.
- Recruit, retain, and develop top underground plumbing talent.
Act as a mentor and leader, encouraging professional and personal growth.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing field technicians in the underground plumbing, sewer & drain, or related residential services industry.
- Proven leadership skills with a track record of building and developing successful teams.
- Strong technical knowledge of sewer and drain systems, residential underground plumbing, and related repair techniques.
- Results-driven mindset with a passion for operational excellence.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in using smartphones, tablets, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and service management software.
Ability to manage budgets, track KPIs, and make data-driven decisions. - Comfortable working autonomously and leading change within a growing organization.
