Hours & Schedule
- Full-Time, 80 hours bi-weekly
- Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm
- Ability to work weekends, evenings and be available on call for after hour emergencies
- $33/hour
Job Description
The Electrician II - Journeyman is responsible for performing all electrical tasks under general supervision. The role requires a Journeyman license, the ability to read blueprints, terminate cables, install and troubleshoot control wiring from drawings, and demonstrate experience beyond that of an electrical apprentice. Additionally, proficiency in rough-in work is required.
Essential Functions
- Install feeders and branch circuits.
- Size wire and conduit.
- Install and terminate switchgear, panelboards, lighting, and devices.
- Install and terminate fire alarm systems equipment/devices.
- Perform layout and preparation for installation.
- Complete underground layout and rough-in.
- Troubleshoot motors and controls.
- Mentor and train apprentice electricians.
- Fully comprehend electrical theory and the NFPA 70 National Electrical Code.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
- Maintain work area and assigned spaces in a clean, safe, and professional manner.
- Follow established safety and risk management processes and procedures; comply with work-related injury processes by reporting all injuries or accidents immediately.
- Conduct job functions safely; remain aware of surroundings to identify potentially hazardous conditions and report unsafe conditions or equipment to a supervisor immediately.
- Wear and/or use safety equipment and supplies (e.g., back brace, mechanical lifts, etc.) when lifting or moving heavy objects; wear goggles when using power tools.
- Work safely with all necessary power tools, hand tools, and other instruments required for job duties.
- Interface with vendors in a professional manner.
- Respect residents’ rights and demonstrate awareness of Residential Rights.
- Adhere to Standards of Attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Participate in an on-call rotation.
- Schedule change may be required to complete urgent work.
- May be required to fill in as needed in other positions at the direction of the manager or director.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, crawl under equipment, and work in cramped spaces (at times).
- Must be able to spend the day frequently walking, climbing, stooping, and bending.
- May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
Work Environment
- Will work in a well-lit and ventilated area.
- May be required to work beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily.
- May be subject to callbacks during emergency conditions (e.g. severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.)
- May be subject to exposure to infectious waste, disease conditions (e.g. TB, AIDS, Hepatitis B Virus, etc.) and hazardous chemicals.
- Will be exposed to dusty conditions, noise from machinery, as well as a variety of odors (i.e. cleaning solvents, sewer gas, paint fumes, etc.).
- Will be exposed to hot (boiler rooms) and cold conditions (walk-in boxes).
- Will be required to work outdoors at times, exposed to the elements throughout all seasons.
Qualifications
Experience:
- 5 years’ experience electrical experience in health care, extended care, multifamily dwellings, or similar facilities, is required.
- Extensive knowledge of electrical systems, including high-voltage systems
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings
- Strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve electrical issues
- Excellent attention to detail to ensure accurate installation and repairs
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
Licensure/Certification:
- Valid state driver’s license.
- Must hold Montgomery County Journeyman’s License.
