HVAC Service Technician
Position Title: HVAC Service Technician
Reports To: Service Manager / Operations Manager

Position Summary
The HVAC Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and servicing residential and light commercial heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, customer-focused, and capable of troubleshooting HVAC equipment efficiently while providing exceptional customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC system malfunctions and performance issues.
- Perform preventative maintenance on residential and light commercial HVAC systems.
- Inspect, test, and evaluate electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration components.
- Repair or replace compressors, motors, capacitors, contactors, thermostats, coils, fans, and other HVAC components.
- Start up, test, and calibrate new or repaired systems according to manufacturer specifications.
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Communicate findings, repair recommendations, and maintenance needs to customers in a professional manner.
- Complete service tickets, inspection reports, and other required documentation accurately and timely.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and local building codes.
- Maintain company vehicle, tools, equipment, and inventory in a clean and organized condition.
- Participate in on-call and emergency service rotations as required.
- Identify opportunities for equipment upgrades, indoor air quality improvements, and maintenance agreements.
- Work independently while maintaining a high standard of workmanship and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
- Ability to diagnose and repair HVAC systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred
- HVAC trade school or technical training.
- Minimum of 2 years HVAC service experience.
- Experience with residential and light commercial service work.
- Experience servicing residential split systems, heat pumps, package units, and ductless mini-split systems preferred.
- Experience with smart thermostats, zoning systems, and indoor air quality products.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to work outdoors in Florida heat and varying weather conditions.
- Ability to climb ladders and work on rooftops when required.
- Ability to work in attics, crawl spaces, and confined areas.
- Ability to stand, kneel, bend, crouch, and reach for extended periods.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, gauges, and testing equipment.

- Exposure to varying temperatures, dust, noise, and construction conditions.
- Occasional after-hours and emergency service calls.
