Position Overview
The HVAC Service Technician will diagnose, repair and maintain residential heating and air-conditioning systems. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable, professional, honest with customers and capable of working independently while communicating clearly with the office and the rest of the team.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair residential HVAC systems
- Perform routine maintenance and system inspections
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical and refrigerant-related problems
- Service heat pumps, straight-cool systems, air handlers and split systems
- Check refrigerant pressures, airflow, electrical components and drain systems
- Complete repairs accurately and efficiently
- Clearly explain system problems and repair options to customers
- Provide honest recommendations without unnecessary pressure
- Maintain accurate service notes and job documentation
- Keep the work area clean and treat customers’ homes respectfully
- Communicate with the office regarding job status, needed parts and follow-up work
- Follow company procedures and all applicable safety standards
- Identify replacement opportunities when repairing the existing system is no longer practical
Qualifications
- Previous residential HVAC service experience preferred
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities
- Working knowledge of heat pumps, split systems and electrical components
- EPA Section 608 certification preferred
- Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record
- Ability to safely lift equipment, climb ladders and work in attics or outdoor conditions
- Professional appearance and respectful communication
- Dependable, punctual and able to work independently
- Must provide honest, high-quality service to every customer
