HVAC Service Technician - Whatcom & Skagit Counties, WA
$25.00–$50.00+ per hour | Full-Time | Blended pay structure
Life is different at Marr's. You can feel it.
We've been in the trades since 1965 - three generations, same family, same town. HVAC built this company and it's still the heart of it: sixty-five people across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, indoor air quality, and solar.
We're not looking for a body to fill a truck. We're looking for the technician who owns a route instead of getting sent to one.
What the work actually is
Residential and light commercial service. Diagnostics, repair, and maintenance on gas furnaces, heat pumps, air handlers, ductless and mini-splits, AC, controls, and IAQ equipment. Pacific Northwest work - heat pumps year-round, real diagnostic depth, not seasonal filter swaps.
You run your own route with a dedicated HVAC service dispatcher whose only job is keeping your day clean. You talk to the homeowner yourself, present options honestly, and own the call from the front door to the invoice.
We don't send techs out to sell fear. We send them out to find the problem and tell the truth about it. If that's already how you work, you'll make more money here than you're making now.
Why a good tech takes this job
Health insurance we pay for. All of it. Medical, dental, and vision - 100% company paid. Not 80%. Not "generous contribution." Paid. Compare that against every other ad open on your phone right now.
$25–$50+ per hour with uncapped incentives. Blended structure - hourly base plus performance. Your ceiling is your production, not a pay band someone else drew.
Retirement with a 3% match. Paid holidays and PTO. Uniforms covered.
Company vehicle and professional tools.
Trucks that are actually stocked. We rebuilt our entire truck stock program from the ground up so you're not driving to the supply house at 2pm on a Friday. Your job is the trade, not the scavenger hunt.
Tools that don't fight you. ServiceTitan, real dispatch, real routing. When something in the process is broken, we fix the process - we don't tell you to work harder.
We back you at the door. When a call goes sideways, you're not standing in a customer's living room alone wondering whether the company will support you. You'll already know.
A real ceiling. Five trades under one roof. Stay a top-tier service tech for twenty years, move into install, cross-train into another trade, or step toward leadership. All four are real here. We'd rather promote you than post the job.
Sixty-five people. Small enough that everyone knows your name. Big enough to back you up when the job gets hard.
What we expect
We do the job right, not the easy way. Clean work, straight talk with customers, and showing up when you said you would. We're not the cheapest bid in Whatcom County and we don't try to be - we service and install systems that hold up in Pacific Northwest and we stand behind them. If you've ever been asked to cut a corner and hated it, you'll like it here.
Our mission
To deliver an exceptional customer experience by developing exceptional employees.
We hire on trajectory, not just résumé. We'd rather train the right person the Marr's way than inherit someone else's shortcuts.
Our core values
Innovation - We don't accept stagnation. Your ideas about how this department should run are wanted, and no improvement is too small.
Accountability - We own our problems instead of externalizing them, and we hold each other to that with respect. Mistakes are lessons, not ammunition.
Transparency - Honest with our customers, honest with each other. Trust is a long game and we play it that way.
Professionalism - The uniform, the truck, the conversation at the door, the work behind the wall. We aim for perfect, fall short like everyone, and adjust.
