POSITION SUMMARY
The HVAC Journeyman is responsible for the installation, service, repair, maintenance, and diagnostic evaluation of residential and light commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for Tellez Heating and Air customers throughout the Tulsa Metro area. This role requires sound independent judgment, strict adherence to safety and code requirements, and direct, professional communication with customers in their homes and businesses. Tellez Heating and Air is a small, family-owned crew – this technician works closely with ownership rather than through layers of dispatch management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Available On-Call during regular operating hours - 8am-5pm Monday - Friday
- Install new HVAC systems and equipment in residential and light commercial settings.
- Service and repair existing HVAC systems, including diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on heating and cooling systems.
- Diagnose system malfunctions using established troubleshooting procedures, test equipment, and field experience.
- Install insulation wrap and blow-in insulation as needed to support system performance and efficiency.
- Access and work safely within attics, crawl spaces, and elevated or rooftop locations.
- Operate a company vehicle to travel to customer job sites throughout the Tulsa Metro service area.
- Communicate directly and professionally with customers regarding system findings, repair options, and recommendations.
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, materials used, and diagnostic findings.
- Follow all applicable safety codes, EPA refrigerant handling regulations, and manufacturer specifications.
- Keep the company vehicle, tools, and equipment organized, clean, and in good working condition.
