Position
SAS has an opening for an experienced Welder.
Job Responsibilities
- Cutting and joining metal parts for fabricating or repairing manufacturing equipment, tools, and various other articles
- Designing and fabricating the equipment and parts for meeting the special or unusual needs, using the manufacturer specifications, calculator, measuring devices, drawings, etc.
- Installing or removing any special equipment like grinders, power and hand tools, etc.
- Designing and creating holding jigs that aid in fabrication of the parts in various numbers
- Maintaining a record of all the work completed
- Maintaining routine inventory of supplies used for operating the welding unit via inspection of stocks and ordering fresh stock as and when required.
Job Qualifications
- Basic mathematics skills
- Basic knowledge of welding symbols and blueprint reading skills
- Ability to work with complicated welding tools
- Experience with welding dies or instruments/ equipment utilized within a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Proficient in monitoring the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating or warping of parts.
- Ability to examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
- Able to lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers.
- Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
- Prepare all material surfaces to be welded, ensuring that there is no loose or thick scale, slag, rust, moisture, grease, or other foreign matter.
- Preheat work pieces prior to welding or bending, using torches or heating furnaces.
Education & Experience Requirements
- 2-5 years or more of welding experience
- Welding certification preferred ( American Welding Society)
- Excellent communication skills
- Forklift experience preferred
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Follow company procedures and policies
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead
Must be able to lift 15 lbs.
- Comfortable standing for long periods
- Able to work outdoors and around loud machinery
- Able to work on uneven surfaces
- Must be able to climb, bend, walk, balance, and carry materials safety
