You’ll troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all restaurant equipment—HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, and more. You'll even lend a hand in carpentry from time to time. It's a role that keeps you moving, thinking, and mastering your craft daily.

At Whataburger, our Restaurant Kitchen Equipment Service Technician is responsible for making sure things don’t get spicy by repairing and maintaining restaurant equipment. They relish in performing preventive maintenance and ensure completion of work orders to meat the restaurant needs. They flip at the chance to communicate with management and vendors.
We’re hiring immediately for our Restaurant Maintenance Technician position! At Whataburger, you are the subject-matter expert on ensuring the safe and reliable performance of all the equipment inside and outside of your assigned restaurants. You will apply your technical knowledge and experience toward maintaining the proper operation of all restaurant equipment including heating and cooling, plumbing and the physical appearance of the building inside and out.
MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Troubleshoots and repairs restaurant equipment, perform minor carpentry and plumbing repairs.
- Installs new equipment as needed in accordance with company safety procedures.
- Maintains parts inventory.
- Performs scheduled preventative maintenance on kitchen equipment, rooftop units, and ice makers.
- Manages work orders to meet Service Level Agreements (SLA) and maximize customer service.
- Reports on work schedule and equipment repair statuses.
- Engage with third party vendors and review/approve their work.
Preferred QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma / GED equivalent
- Trade school graduate with diploma in commercial HVAC/refrigeration
- 1+ years’ work experience in commercial kitchen equipment repair or educational equivalent.
· Valid driver’s license with liability insurance, a good driving record and a satisfactory background check is required
- Must be able to report to work in a timely manner and as required by operational/business needs
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
