JOB SUMMARY
The Industrial & Commercial Journeyman Electrician Service Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems in commercial and industrial environments. This role requires expertise in interpreting electrical drawings, ensuring compliance with NEC and local codes, and delivering high-quality workmanship in service, maintenance, and small project environments. The technician will work independently and as part of a team, ensuring safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction on every assignment.
ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES
· Perform service calls, troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance on electrical systems and equipment in industrial and commercial facilities.
· Install, test, and maintain electrical wiring, conduit, panels, switchgear, lighting, controls, and other system components.
· Read, interpret, and apply electrical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
· Ensure compliance with NEC, OSHA, and local/state electrical codes.
· Diagnose electrical problems using appropriate testing equipment and techniques.
· Document work performed, materials used, and recommendations for repairs/upgrades.
· Provide clear communication with customers, supervisors, and team members regarding job status and service needs.
· Mentor and guide apprentices to ensure proper training and safe work practices.
· Participate in an on-call rotation for emergency service work as required.
COMPETENCIES
· Strong knowledge of NEC, OSHA safety requirements, and industry best practices.
· Proficient with conduit bending, motor controls, switchgear, and service upgrades.
· Ability to use electrical testing equipment (multimeters, meggers, circuit tracers, etc.).
· Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $34.00 - $42.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
