About the Role
The YWCA is seeking a motivated, hands‑on Part‑Time Facilities Technician to help maintain a safe, clean, and fully operational environment for our members, staff, and visitors. You’ll play a key role in keeping our fitness equipment, facility systems, pools, and building spaces running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities
Facility & Equipment Maintenance
- Maintain and repair fitness equipment, supporting at least 90% operational uptime.
- Identify and correct unsafe conditions on the fitness floor.
- Assist the Building Engineer with facility repairs, including small projects, painting/patching, pool systems, electrical, HVAC, and grounds work.
- Complete scheduled pool checks, including logs and follow‑up chemical adjustments.
- Perform preventive maintenance per manufacturer specifications.
- Conduct and document regular equipment inspections.
- Maintain an organized and effective parts inventory.
- Provide after‑hours/on‑call support as scheduled (limited for part‑time staff).
Administrative Responsibilities
- Complete checklists, building logs, equipment logs, and preventive maintenance documentation.
- Monitor repair status and communicate updates with signage.
- Track repair and maintenance costs.
- Collaborate with the fitness team on equipment improvements aligned with member needs.
- Communicate effectively with vendors and follow the 24‑hour service call policy.
- Attend required meetings and trainings (scheduled to fit part‑time availability).
Qualifications
Required
- 2+ years of preventive maintenance and equipment repair experience.
- Experience maintaining and repairing building equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Commitment to proper safety practices.
- Ability to interpret and uphold the YWCA Mission and Vision.
- Special Engineer licensing (or Second Class) and willingness to train for Class C Boilers License within the first year.
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) OR ability to obtain within 3 months.
Preferred
- Trade or Technical School degree.
- Experience maintaining and repairing fitness equipment.
- CPR/AED certification (required within 30 days of hire).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs. frequently.
- Regular walking; occasional standing, sitting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
- Vision requirements include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision.
- Exposure to outdoor weather, humid conditions, mechanical parts, high places, fumes, chemicals, heat, and electrical risks.
- Noise levels are typically moderate.
