The role
As Catholic Worship Service Music Director, you will take the lead on music for Catholic worship services, rehearsals and special events.
Working closely with the Senior Chaplain, you will choose suitable music, prepare the Worship Team and help make each service welcoming, organized and engaging.
This is a hands-on role where your voice, musical ability and leadership will all play an important part.
Key Responsibilities
You will:
- Lead music during Catholic worship services
- Work with the Senior Chaplain to select appropriate songs
- Direct musicians, vocalists and the Worship Team
- Hold at least one rehearsal each week
- Provide music to the team ahead of rehearsals
- Recruit and support volunteer musicians and singers
- Help with the setup and breakdown of musical equipment
- Support Sunday services and special events

The person
We are looking for someone who can combine strong musical ability with confident, approachable leadership.
You should have:
- Knowledge of Catholic faith and contemporary Catholic worship
- Experience planning or leading worship music
- Strong vocal ability
- Confidence leading music for a congregation
- Ability to play at least one musical instrument
- Experience working with musicians, singers or volunteers
- Good teamwork and communication skills
- Keyboard or guitar skills, sheet music reading and experience with sound or worship projection systems are preferred.
