Summary
Responsible for building and maintaining dependable electric service in the GP&L area including overhead, underground, transmission and light system. Also, responsible for installing, removing, and maintaining transmission, distribution and service lines/ equipment.
Pay Range: $43.47 - $51.00 (Depending on qualifications and experience)
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Repair and replace distribution power lines between generating stations, substations and customers/owners.

Build and maintain transmission/distribution power lines within the Garland Power & Light utility system. facilities.

Identify, diagnose and repair system disturbances and abnormalities.

Prepare service requests to identify locations and/or causes of malfunctions or problems.

Direct and monitor job tasks, progression and capability of crew.

Attend on-site and off-site safety training classes as scheduled by Training Manager.

Compile paperwork for WFM and Engineering.

Standby duties and callout assistance after regular working hours.

Occasional travel to remote system facilities.

Continuation occupational training.
Minimum Qualifications
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job or the successful completion of a Lineman College course with certification

General knowledge of transformer theory, loading and connectivity

Skill with office equipment and Microsoft Office

Ability to identify system operating problems

Ability to work with field crews to ensure safe work practices are followed at all times
Licenses & Certifications

Valid Class “C” Texas Driver’s License

Able to obtain a Texas Commercial Driver’s License Class “A” w/Tanker Endorsement within 90-days

Certification as DOL Apprentice Line Technician
Physical Tasks & Working Conditions
The incumbent works in an outdoor environment; frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Majority of work performed outside at construction sites and/or power line locations.
